A Little History: Wayne F. Johnson was born September 26, 1954 in Philadelphia,
PA. Having moved to Virginia in 1955, Wayne grew up in Chesapeake, VA. He is married to the former Becky Letise
Kuykendall and they have two children, Kirk and Letise.
Wayne graduated from The College of William and Mary with a B.S. in psychology and a minor in religion. In 1980,
he graduated from the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity with Religious Education degree.
Wayne served as Minister of Education at the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, North Carolina, from 1979-1984.
He served at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, Virginia, as Minister of Education and Administration from September 1, 1984 to September 30,
2003
Pastor Johnson has had the privilege of serving as Pastor of the wonderful people of Rivermont Baptist Church since October 1, 2003.

David Abernathy
Prior to becoming a Good News Jail & Ministry Chaplain in March 1989, David worked as a volunteer at the W. W. Moore Juvenile
Detention Home. At that time, he was Minister of Music at Stokesland Baptist Church, a position he held until his ordination
in 1989. He also served two years on the Good News President’s Council for the Danville ministry. In 1991, David was
promoted to Senior Chaplain, where he currently serves in that capacity. He ministers at the Danville City Jail and the Danville
Adult Detention Center. David lives in Danville, VA, with his wife, Liz. They have two children.

Anita Newton
Anita was born in Danville and has attended Rivermont since her birth. She accepted Christ and became
a member of Rivermont at the age of 9. Her parents, Harold Martin(deceased) and Louise Martin, are charter members of
Rivermont. She has always been active in church and has been a member of the GA's, youth choir, Sunday School, Women
on the Go, and has taught GA's and children's choir for many years.
Anita is married to Roger Newton and resides in Dry Fork, VA. She has two daughters, Jennifer Depner and
Katherine Reynolds, two step children, including Chris Newton, and three lively dogs, Wilson, Holly and Gizmo.
Music has been part of Anita's life since she was very young. At the age of 6, she began piano lessons.
At age 12, she joined the school band were she played clarinet throughout her school years. Anita studied organ under
the direction of Penny Crowder inthe early 90's. Anita was an active member of Rivermont choir until she was asked
to direct the choir at Mount Olivet United Methodist Church in 1992. She was director there until she returned to Rivermont
in June 1995 to accept a position as the pianist. Anita now plays both the organ and piano at Rivermont.

Teresa Montgomery
Teresa has been employed as custodian
at Rivermont since July, 1998 - it is a family affair as husband, Ronnie, shares in the custodial responsibilities of
the church also. They have three daughters, Anna, Sarah & Kelly.
Teresa is a Teacher's Aide at Stony Mill Elementary School. Ronnie is employed by A.C. Furniture in Eden, NC. Anna and her husband, John Dalton, are missionaries in Papua New Guinea. Sarah is a student at
Randolph
Macon College in Lynchburg, VA. Kelly is a junior at Chatham High School.
The family are members at Keen Street Baptist Church.

Anita Newton

Judy Yates
Judy has been employed at Rivermont as Church Office Manager since July, 2001.
She retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 24 years working in both Danville, Virgina, and
Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
Judy is married to Mike Yates, a Food Service Technician for Danville City Schools.
They have one son, Michael, a student at Danville Community College, who is employed part-time at
Lowe's and Dameron Plumbing.
She is a member of Keen Street Baptist Church.
